Women's Swimming Takes Second at Swat Invite; Day 2 Results

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's swim team swam to a second-place finish at the fourth annual Swarthmore Invitational meet, which wrapped up with two competition sessions on Saturday.

The Garnet women scored four individual wins courtesy of four different swimmers.  In the morning session, freshman Nikkia Miller won the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.98 (teammate Eva Winter touched third in 1:11.80).

The evening session saw victories from Kate Wiseman (100 freestyle, 54.61), freshman Supriya Davis (200 butterfly, 2:10.15), and junior Margaret Regan (200 breaststroke, 2:34.59); Winter once again finished third in the breaststroke (2:36.22).

All three relay events ended with close second-place finishes for the Garnet, as the 200 medley relay team of Winter, Miller, Wiseman, and junior Rebecca Teng swam to a 1:55.45, just a second off of Rowan's winning pace. Teng, Davis, Wiseman, and freshman Jessica Siegel took another close second in the 800 freestyle relay, in 8:20.17.  Closing out the evening session, Miller, Winter, Davis, and Wiseman were once again a second out of first place in the 400 freestyle relay, as Davis and Wiseman both split under 55 seconds to turn a half-lap deficit into a tight finish.

The Garnet will return to action next Saturday, traveling to Ursinus.  The meet is set to begin at 1pm.
