SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore women's swim team ended the first day of competition at the Swarthmore Invitational on Friday in second place overall, trailing only Rowan University thanks to several strong individual performances.
Sophomore Kate Wiseman provided the only overall individual victory of the evening for the Garnet, as her 200 IM time of 2:14.55 narrowly beat Rowan's Allison Schneider (2:14.61) and Swarthmore classmate Supriya Davis (2:15.06).
Freshman Nikkia Miller swam a strong 25.48 in the 50 freestyle to take third place. Junior Rebecca Teng was sixth in 26.64.
The 400 freestyle relay team of 400 medley relay team of Teng, Wiseman, Davis, and freshman Eva Winter closed out the night with a first-place finish in 4:07.85.
The Garnet returns to the pool tomorrow as the Invitational begins its second day. Action is expected to start at 9:30 am.
