SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Freshman Wyatt McCall netted a pair of goals and junior captain Jack Momeyer recorded a goal and assist to lead the top-seeded Swarthmore College men's soccer team (14-1-2) past No. 4 seed Johns Hopkins by a score of 3-0 on Saturday evening in the Centennial Conference semifinal from Clothier Field.

With the win, the Garnet moves on to Sunday's Centennial Conference Championship Match, where it will face No. 3 seed Haverford, which defeated second-seeded Dickinson 1-0 in the first Centennial semifinal. The championship match will begin at 3:00 p.m. from Swarthmore's Clothier Field Stadium. 

This marks the first time in the history of the Centennial Conference that rivals Swarthmore and Haverford have faced off in a conference team championship game.

The Garnet defense continued its stellar play of late, as Peter Maxted made two saves in goal to earn the clean sheet. He got a late assist from senior Thomas Drew, who made a sliding save to clear a would-be Hopkins goal off the goaline in the 89th minute. The shutout is the Garnet defense's third consecutive.

The Garnet broke open an evenly played match with a string of three goals over 10 minutes between the end of the first half and the start of the second. Momeyer got it started in the 37th minute when he received a nice through ball from freshman David Geschwind and poked a sliding shot past Hopkins' keeper Nick Cerrone to make it 1-0 Swarthmore.

Just over two minutes later, the Garnet doubled its lead thanks to a highlight-reel score from McCall. The first-year took a pass in stride from Momeyer, juked a Blue Jay defender out of his cleats and drilled a hard shot into the back of the net to make it 2-0.

McCall - who entered the match with just one career goal - iced the game for the Garnet with his second goal of the evening just seconds into the second half. This score was set up by an assist from junior Noah Sterngold and put the Garnet ahead for good at 3-0.

The 3-0 scoreline is the Garnet's largest margin of victory over Johns Hopkins in the Centennial Conference era. The match was a stark contrast to Swarthmore's previous two playoff meetings with Hopkins at Clothier Field Stadium, both of which ended in penalty shootouts.

Swarthmore will be playing in the Centennial Conference final for the third time in program history. Swarthmore is 2-0 in championship matches, winning the Centennial title in 2008 and 2010, both of which were played at Clothier Field Stadium.

Swarthmore will face Haverford in the Centennial Conference Championship tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
