SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Junior captain Jack Momeyer netted a pair of first-half goals and junior Joe Keedy added a late score as the No. 15 Swarthmore College men's soccer team defeated the visiting Ursinus Bears 3-1 on Saturday evening from Clothier Field Stadium.

Juniors Cameron French and Jake Weiner each recorded two assists for the Garnet (9-1-2, 5-0-1), which is now unbeaten in its last six matches.

With the victory, the Garnet remains unbeaten in Centennial Conference play and atop the conference standings with three conference matches remaining in the season.

Swarthmore completely dominated the match, controlling the play and possession throughout and only conceding an own goal late in the contest.

After an uneventful opening 20 minutes, Momeyer put the Garnet ahead in its first real scoring chance. The midfielder took a pass from French on the right wing about 12-yards out, dribbled to the middle of the box and fired a shot to right of the 'keeper, putting Swat ahead 1-0.

Just seven minutes, Momeyer was at it again. This time he was in the right place at the right time, as a long cross from junior Jake Weiner was misplayed by the Ursinus 'keeper. Momeyer was waiting to collect the rebound and quickly tapped in from the left post  to make it 2-0 a match.

Ahead 2-0 into the second half, Keedy put the match on ice in the 60th minute. On the counter attack, the junior forward broke away from the defense, a took a pass from French in stride and buried the one-on-one shot to give the Garnet a commanding 3-0 lead.

The Bears would get on the scoreboard in the 82nd minute thanks to an own goal, but outcome of the match was already a foregone conclusion as Swarthmore earned the 3-1 win.

Junior Peter Maxted and senior Jake Tracy split time in goal, combining for one save.

It's a quick turnaround for the Garnet, as the squad hosts local rival Neumann on Monday. Action is slated to begin at 5:00 p.m.
