LANCASTER, Pa. – Swarthmore College's
Melissa Eyer garnered her second consecutive Centennial Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honor on Tuesday.
Eyer repeated as Defensive Player of the Week after tallying 66 digs (6.60 per set), 10 assists, and a team-high six aces in a 3-0 weekend at the Garnet's own Swarthmore Invitational. She started the week with 14 digs, three assists, and one ace in a 3-0 sweep of Salisbury, who was receiving votes in the national poll. Eyer helped limit the Sea Gulls to a .139 hitting percentage. She produced a season-high 29 digs, just one shy of her career best, along with four aces and four assists in a 3-1 win over Widener, limiting the Pride to a .051 hitting percentage. Eyer finished the week with 23 digs, three assists, and one ace in a 3-0 shutout of DeSales, who also received national votes. The Bulldogs hit just .159 in the match.
The Garnet host Muhlenberg College on Friday night.
