SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College volleyball team earned a pair of 3-1 wins in its home tri-match with Dickinson College and Vassar College on Saturday.
The Garnet were even at one set apiece in their conference opener with the Red Devils before taking two in a row for the match. Swarthmore got out to a 2-0 lead versus the Brewers. Vassar cut the deficit to one but the Garnet were able to finish off the win in the fourth.
Ella Tsai and
Isabel Adam led the Swarthmore attack, finishing with 31 and 30 kills respectively across the two matches.
Maya Sheridan amassed 53 assists and eight service aces.
Melissa Eyer and
Mailey Wang highlighted the defense with 47 digs and six blocks respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two sides went back and forth early in the opening set. The Garnet held a 9-8 edge when the Red Devils scored five in a row to take a 13-9 lead. The score was 15-12 before Swarthmore went on a 10-3 run to go ahead 22-18.
Keira Miles recorded a pair of kills and the Garnet notched three aces during the stretch. A kill from Tsai gave Swarthmore a 25-22 win.
- Dickinson got out to a 6-1 lead in the second and did not look back. The Garnet was within three (13-10) when the Red Devils pulled away with seven straight points and went on to take the set 25-15.
- In the third, the score was even at three before Swarthmore tallied four in a row for a 7-3 advantage. The Garnet were up 11-6 but Dickinson fought back with five unanswered to tie it up. The teams were deadlocked at 23 late in the set.
Aiste Bardauskaite put Swarthmore in front with a kill before a Red Devils error gave the Garnet the set 25-23.
- The score was level at 10-all in the fourth when Swarthmore took over with a 10-2 rally. Bardauskaite had three kills to lead the run. Dickinson threatened to erase the advantage with seven consecutive points but the Garnet responded with three in a row to create separation and went on to clinch the match with a 25-22 triumph.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore led 6-2 in the opening set before the Brewers strung together five points to take a one-point edge. The teams continued to trade runs throughout the set until Vassar was ahead 23-20. The final rally came from the Garnet as they finished off the frame with a 6-1 stretch for a 26-24 win.
- Swarthmore got out to a 4-0 lead in the second and did not trail in the set. The Brewers were within one (10-9) before the Garnet ran away with it, closing the frame with a 15-2 run for a 25-11 victory. Swarthmore posted an impressive .440 hitting percentage in the set while limiting Vassar to -.115.
- In the third, the Garnet had a 21-19 advantage but the Brewers rallied for six of seven to come back and take the set 25-22. Vassar looked to have a comfortable 19-12 lead in the fourth but Swarthmore climbed back in it with a 9-1 run. The score was later even at 22 before the Garnet scored three of four, two coming via kills by Tsai, to win the match 25-23. Tsai finished the match with a dominant .429 hitting percentage.
