Women’s Swimming Earns Highest National Ranking of the Season

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's swimming team moved up to No. 12 in the CSCAA national rankings for March, announced on Friday. The Garnet climbed three spots to earn its highest mark of the season.

Last month, the Garnet captured its fifth-straight Centennial Conference Championship as they edged out No. 17 Johns Hopkins University. The women recorded their fifth-straight undefeated season, going 9-0 in head-to-head matchups to extend its streak to 48-straight victories.

Heading into the NCAA National Championships, the women earned 15 selections and qualified for 10 events, including all five relays. Genine Collins secured a pair of top-five seeds at the championship meet, entering as the No. 2 seed in the 50 freestyle and No. 5 seed in the 100 freestyle. Quinn Weygandt is also a strong contender in multiple events, holding the No. 3 seed in the 400 IM and the No. 5 seed in the 200 IM.

The Swarthmore women qualified for all five relay events. The Garnet earned its highest seed in the 200 freestyle relay at fourth. They are also seventh in the 400 freestyle relay, 12th in the 400 medley relay, 15th in the 800 freestyle relay and 16th in the 200 medley relay.

The NCAA National Championships open on March 18 in Indianapolis.
