Men’s Swimming Falls to No. 14 Johns Hopkins

BALTIMORE - The Swarthmore College men's swimming team suffered a 178-83 defeat against No. 14 Johns Hopkins University on Friday afternoon. 

Cami Wilson highlighted the meet with a pool record in 100 butterfly, setting the lone men's pool record for the afternoon. Wilson totaled two victories, while Danny Castle also had a top finish for Swarthmore. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Matvey Ivanov, Dylan Ling, Wilson and Castle teamed up for a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team touched the wall at 1:31.61 to kickoff the meet. 

- Castle picked up a victory in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall at 1:42.06. The junior beat out his Hopkins challenger by just under a full second. Sean Neirynck grabbed third with a 1:44.05 mark in a successful race for the Garnet. Later in the meet, Castle placed second in the 100 freestyle at 46.74. 

- Mateo Smith claimed a runner-up finish in the 200 butterfly after touching at 1:54.33.

- Wilson broke the pool record with an outstanding showing in the 50 freestyle. The senior sprinter placed just a few tenths of a second behind his program record with a 20.84 finish. Luke Magnuson earned himself a third-place effort in the event with a time of 21.59. 

- Wilson tacked on another individual victory with a dominant showing in the 100 butterfly. The senior finished at 47.99 to beat his closest challenger by over two seconds. Wilson was just a few tenths of a second behind his program record. 

- Swarthmore closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Levi Tipton, Wilson, Neirynck and Castle posted a time of 3:04.13.
