COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's track & field team continued competition at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday. The Garnet are in fifth place after nine events, sitting just nine points out of third place.
The 4x800 meter relay of
Matthew Gutow,
Robert Mirabello,
Atticus Hempel, and
Kenneth Relovsky earned a bronze medal to end the day on a high note for Swarthmore.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 4x800 finished third with a time of 7:43.85. It is the fourth year in a row in which the Garnet have made the podium in the event. It was a tight race with Swarthmore coming in just 1.71 seconds behind the winner and 0.40 seconds off the second-place time.

Joey Alander took fourth place in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a personal-record time of 9:36.17.
Colin DeLaney followed in eighth place (9:53.07) and
Ben Rosin was 11
th (10:37.49). Rosin's time was a season best.

Rishi Tella narrowly missed out on a medal in the long jump, coming in fourth (6.66m). He was just 0.75 inches behind the bronze medalist.
Quentin Adolphe finished eighth (6.46m) in the event.
- Adolphe also competed in the high jump and came in sixth (1.83m).
Rodrigo Carvajal cleared a height of 1.78m for ninth place.

Theo Teszler led the field in the prelims of the 400 meters with a time of 48.74. He will race in the final on Sunday.

Alan Nichols and
Joel Lovell both recorded two personal bests on the day in the 100 and 200 meter prelims. Nichols was 13
th (22.77) in the 200 and 16
th (11.24) in the 100. Lovell took 15
th (11.22) in the 100 and 22
nd (23.40) in the 200.

Owen Lord finished 13
th in the 800 meter prelims with a career-best time of 1:58.25.
Jackson Mejia also ran a personal record in the prelims of the 400 meter hurdles and took 13
th place (1:03.54).
