GREENWOOD, Ind. – Four Swarthmore College softball players were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team this week.

Emily Bertrand,
Iris Barone, and
Lane Barron received the honor for the Garnet. It was the second consecutive selection for all four student-athletes.
To be eligible for Academic All-District accolades, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. In addition, players must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings. The Academic All-District Team is part of the Academic All-America program, which is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across college sports.
McClammy was an All-Centennial First Team selection. She led Swarthmore in OPS (1.114), doubles (14), home runs (7), RBI (56), total bases (88), walks (21), slugging percentage (.647), and on-base percentage (.467).
Bertrand was a member of the All-Centennial Second Team and also earned her second career Centennial Tournament MVP award. She led the Garnet in batting average (.388) and hits (57).
Barone earned NFCA All-Region Second Team and All-Centennial Second Team accolades. She led the squad in runs (49), triples (6), and stolen bases (27).
Barron received All-Centennial honorable mention and went 12-5 with a 2.41 ERA in the pitching circle. She tossed eight complete games with one shutout. Barron struck out 73 while walking just 36 in 107.2 innings.
The quartet helped Swarthmore win its second Centennial title in three years and advance to the NCAA Regionals.
