LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Coming off a Centennial Conference championship and a NCAA Tournament appearance, the Swarthmore College softball team was slotted at No. 25 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Preseason Top 25 Poll on Tuesday.
The Garnet had one of the greatest seasons in program history in 2025, posting a school-record 33 wins and capturing their second conference title in three years. Swarthmore recorded six victories versus nationally-ranked opponents and achieved its own national ranking for the first time ever, peaking at No. 22. The Garnet earned a win in the NCAA Regional and finished with a 33-12 mark.
Swarthmore returns five position players to its starting lineup, headlined by All-Region standout
Iris Barone. Three returners were named to the All-Centennial Team in 2025, including Barone,
Lia Fong, and
Avery McClure.
In the pitching circle, the Garnet are once again anchored by
Lilly Goldberg and
Lane Barron. Both athletes received All-Centennial honors and Goldberg was chosen the NFCA Division III Freshman of the Year.
The Garnet open the campaign on February 28 with a pair of contests at the Salisbury University Tournament.
