PHILADELPHIA – Swarthmore College placed four student-athletes on the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Women's Swimming & Diving Team this week, the most by any institution. In addition,
Quinn Weygandt was named the Performer of the Year.
Weygandt was joined on the squad by
Genine Collins,
Ava Craig, and
Erin Szuromi. It was the second career selection for Szuromi. The team was nominated and voted on by the athletic communications offices of 30 colleges and universities in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area.
Weygandt helped lead Swarthmore to its second straight top-10 team finish at the NCAA Championships as well as the team's fourth straight Centennial Conference title. She is now an eight-time All-American during her career, with five of those honors coming this season. Weygandt earned first-team All-America accolades with a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM at the NCAA meet to go along with second team honors in the 200 IM and the 200 fly, breaking a 17-year-old school record in the latter event to set her fourth individual school record.
The junior standout was named the Centennial Conference Swimmer of the Year and the Centennial Championships Most Outstanding Performer, winning both awards for the second straight season. During the conference meet, she was a gold medalist in all five events she competed in, including individual titles in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 fly to go along with swimming a leg on the championship 400 free relay and 800 free relay teams. She is the first three-time Centennial champion in the 400 IM since 2007 and was part of the 800 free relay squad which broke the program, pool, championship and conference records.
Collins was a four-time All-American this year, finishing third in the 50 free at the NCAA Championships for first team distinction. She garnered second team nods in three relays. The sophomore won seven gold medals at the Centennial Conference Championships (50 free, 100 fly, 100 free, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 200 free relay, 400 free relay) and broke her own conference record in the 50 free. Collins holds five conference records and six program marks. She is a career nine-time All-American and 14-time conference medalist. Collins was the 2024 Centennial Rookie of the Year and has earned Academic All-Centennial Team and Centennial Academic Honor Roll accolades.
Craig garnered All-America Second Team distinction as a member of the 800 free relay at the NCAA Championships. She won three gold medals (500 free, 400 free relay, 800 free relay) and one silver (200 free) at the Centennial Conference Championships. Craig broke the program record in the 500 free and swam on the Garnet's 800 free relay that broke the program, pool, championship, and conference records at this year's conference meet. She earned Academic All-Centennial Team and Centennial Academic Honor Roll accolades.
Szuromi earned All-America Second Team honors as part of the 400 medley relay at this year's national championships. She captured three gold medals (100 back, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay) at the Centennial Championships. Szuromi is a member of the conference-record holding 400 medley relay and also holds the program mark in the 100 back. A career four-time All-American and 13-time conference medalist, Szuromi was a 2024 Scholar All-America First Team honoree.
The quartet helped the Garnet claim their fourth consecutive Centennial crown.
