GREENWOOD, Ind. – Three Swarthmore College student-athletes were chosen to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women's Swimming Team on Tuesday.
The honorees included
Genine Collins,
Ava Craig, and
Erin Szuromi. It is the second straight year that Szuromi has garnered the award.
To be eligible for Academic All-District accolades, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, compete in at least four competitions or finish in the top eight at a conference meet, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. The Academic All-District Team is part of the Academic All-America program, which is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across college sports.
Collins won seven gold medals at the Centennial Championships. She competed in the 50 and 100 freestyle and was part of four relays at the NCAA Championships. Collins was the national bronze medalist in the 50 free, earning All-America First Team distinction. She also was a Second Team All-American in four relays.
Craig was a three-time gold medalist at the conference meet and also had a silver. She raced in two events at the national championships and earned All-America Second Team honors in the 800 free relay.
Szuromi won three golds at the Centennial Championships and went on to be named All-America Second Team twice as a member of the 200 medley and 400 medley relays.
The trio helped the Garnet capture their fourth straight conference crown and place 10
th at the NCAA Championships.
