Men’s Swimming Claims Dual-Meet Finale Over F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's swimming team wrapped up its dual meet schedule with a 187-75 victory over Franklin & Marshall College. The Garnet finish the season with a 6-3 overall record and a 5-1 conference mark. 

Cami Wilson, Danny Castle and Damian Rene all won multiple events to highlight a successful dual meet finale. Wilson dominated the sprint events with victories in the 50 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 50 backstroke. He was also a member of the first-place 200 medley relay to combine for four total wins.

Castle and Rene both enjoyed a pair of individual victories. Castle won the 100 IM and 100 backstroke to complement his victory on the 200 medley relay. Rene put together an impressive performance with wins in the 50 and 100 breaststrokes, respectively. He also earned a top-three finish in the 50 freestyle. 



HOW IT HAPPENED

- Swarthmore claimed the top-two finishes in the 200 medley relay. The team of Cami Wilson, Cole Griscavage, Levi Tipton and Danny Castle touched first with a time of 1:33.60. Matvey Ivanov, Dylan Ling, Luke Magnuson and Benton Greenberg followed closely behind with a 1:33.86 mark. 

- Ham Williams-Tracy led a Garnet trio to a podium sweep in the 500 freestyle. The reigning Centennial Swimmer of the Week raced to a top finish of 4:48.68. Theodore Kim (4:50.60) followed in second, while Sam Peterson (4:54.63) placed third overall.

- Omar Ebied paced a top-three sweep in the 200 IM. Ebied led the charge with a 1:59.14 effort, while Will Trone (1:59.15) and Dylan Herink (1:59.91) followed closely behind. All three swimmers finished within a minute of each other. 

- Wilson captured three individual victories on the afternoon. The junior won the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.28, before following with a victory in the 50 butterfly (22.75). Wilson then claimed another top finish in the 50 backstroke (24.12) to lead a podium sweep in the event. 

- Castle touched first in the 100 IM with a time of 53.65. Williams-Tracy also earned a podium finish for the Garnet with a time of 54.96 to take third. The sophomore went on to win the 100 backstroke (52.78) for his second victory of the afternoon. Magnuson placed third in the event at 53.00. 

- Rene finished with the top time in the 50 breaststroke. The sophomore touched at 26.62 to beat out Dylan Ling (26.87) for the top finish. He then earned a second victory in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.58. Ling also finished as the runner-up (59.27) in that event. 

- Greenberg enjoyed a top finish in the 200 freestyle to beat out a pair of Diplomats. The junior won the event comfortably with a time of 1:42.97. 

- Jake Zarak was victorious in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.07. Lester Wessels took third in the event at 52.93.
