LANCASTER, Pa. – Swarthmore College's
Ava Gizzie was chosen the Centennial Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season on Tuesday.
Gizzie set the tone for the 13
th-ranked Garnet's 4-0 shutout of Gettysburg, scoring just three minutes into the contest. The victory secured a first-round bye in the Centennial Tournament for Swarthmore, which remains unbeaten in conference play. The tally marked Gizzie's 11
th of the campaign, setting a new career high and also vaulting them into the program's all-time top 10 for most goals in a single season. The junior has scored in all but one of their last 11 contests and leads the conference in goals.
The Garnet travel to Washington College on Wednesday night.
