WAYNESBORO, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's golf team moved up one spot on day two of the Centennial Conference Championship on Saturday and sits in second place after two rounds at Waynesboro Country Club.
The Garnet improved upon their first-round score by 14 strokes and totaled 289 for the second round. Swarthmore's total score of 592 is 12 strokes off leader Franklin and Marshall College.
Benjamin Garcia Moreira led the Garnet on Saturday with a three-under-par 69. He is in fifth place on the individual leaderboard.
Dylan Zhang shot even par on the day and is the top Swarthmore golfer thus far in the tournament, sitting in a tie for third place after two rounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Garcia Moreira bested his opening round by eight strokes. He got off to a strong start on Saturday, recording birdies on three of his first five holes. Garcia Moreira finished with five birdies for the round compared to just two bogeys.
- Zhang and
Yuxuan Wang both shot even-par 72, with Wang improving on his first-round score by five strokes. Wang is in ninth place heading into the final day. Zhang struggled early on, carding three bogeys over the first six holes. However, he bounced back with four birdies over his next eight. Wang tied Garcia Moreira with a team-high five birdies on the day.

Neil Zhu equaled his opening round with a 76 (+4) and is tied for 12
th place. He posted two birdies.
Max Ash shot a 79 (+7) and registered a pair of birdies. He sits in a tie for 21
st place.
