WILMINGTON, Del. – The Swarthmore College golf team posted a team score of 284 in the final round to come from behind and win the Northeast Shootout at DuPont Country Club on Tuesday. It was the Garnet's third tournament victory of the campaign.
The top three teams were separated by just five strokes as the Garnet (871) were followed by Hamilton College (873) and Farmingdale State College (876). Swarthmore was third after the opening two rounds on Monday.
The Garnet had three individuals finish in the top 10.
Neil Zhu led Swarthmore with a 69 (-2) on the final day to finish tied for third overall with a three-round score of 215 (+2).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zhu's round was highlighted by an eagle on seven and he also carded three birdies. He moved up eight spots on the closing day.

Benjamin Garcia Moreira shot even par on Tuesday and placed fifth for the tournament (216, +3). He recorded four birdies during the round.

Yuxuan Wang carded a team-high five birdies in round three and finished with a three-over 74. He came in seventh place with a total of 218 (+5).

Andy Xin and
Max Ash both tied for 17
th place with a 229. Xin had a strong final round, shooting a one-under 70. He also had five birdies. Ash closed his tournament with a 77 (+6).

Alex Cheriel and
Jackson Murphy competed as individuals and were tied for 27
th (233) and tied for 34
th (239) respectively. Both shot a 77 in the final round.
UP NEXT
Ava Chon will compete in the MAC Preview Tournament on Saturday while the rest of the Garnet will play in the Dickinson Spring Invitational on Sunday.
