STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's golf team sits in third place after Friday's first round of The Pennsylvania Classic at the Penn State Golf Courses.
The Garnet posted an opening round score of 293, tying their best round as a team this season.
Dylan Zhang,
Andy Xin, and
Benjamin Garcia Moreira all shot an even-par 71 and are in a four-way tie for third place entering the final round.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Xin and Garcia Moreira both recorded four birdies on the day to lead the squad. For both, one of the birdies came on the course's number-one handicap hole. The 71 was Garcia Moreira's best score of the campaign.
- Zhang tallied a pair of birdies and 14 pars in putting together his 71.
Yuxuan Wang finished the day with a 75 (+4) and is in a four-way tie for 14
th place. He had one birdie.

Neil Zhu and
Max Ash both scored a 76 (+5) and are in a six-way tie for 18
th place. Ash totaled two birdies and Zhu had one.
