GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophie Rotival of the Swarthmore College women's swimming team earned All-America First Team honors in the 100 breaststroke to highlight day three of the NCAA Division III Championships on Friday.
Rotival came in sixth place with a time of 1:02.55 to be named an All-American. It is her second straight All-America accolade in the event after picking up Second Team honors in 2023.
The Garnet have compiled 95 points and remain in ninth place in the team standings heading into the final day of competition.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rotival had the sixth-fastest time (1:02.32) in the morning prelims to advance to the championship final. She finished the final race less than a second behind the national champion. Rotival improved upon her 12
th-place showing from a year ago. She will conclude her schedule with the 200 breaststroke on Saturday.
- The 800 freestyle relay of
Quinn Weygandt,
Lauren Rohde,
Ainsley Jane Tambling, and
Kate Hallmark took 18
th, clocking in at 7:39.31. The time is fourth-best in program history. The group jumped up two spots from its seed of 20
th.

Annaliese Chen, Weygandt, and Rohde placed 22
nd (2:04.87), 23
rd (2:04.90), and 27
th (2:05.48) respectively in the 200 butterfly. Chen and Weygandt just missed qualifying for the finals by half a second. Weygandt will compete in one final event on Saturday (400 freestyle relay).

Elle Anthony competed alongside Rotival in the 100 breaststroke and placed 37
th with a personal-best time of 1:06.58. The time is also ninth in the program record book.
