SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Swarthmore College's
Vinny DeAngelo was selected to the D3hoops.com All-America Fourth Team for the second year in a row. The organization announced its All-America Teams prior to the Division III National Championship Game on Saturday.
DeAngelo also earned All-America Third Team honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches earlier this week. He is the first player in program history to be named an All-American by both organizations twice.
DeAngelo had another impressive campaign to conclude his storied career with the Garnet. He led the squad with 17.9 points per game and was named the D3hoops.com Region V Player of the Year for the second time. A three-time All-Centennial Conference First Team selection, DeAngelo became Swarthmore's all-time leading scorer, ending with 1,743 points. He also led the Garnet in three-pointers (63), assists (75), and steals (35) this season.
The Aston, Pa. native did his best work against top competition, averaging a team-high 21.3 points per game in the Centennial Tournament to help Swarthmore win its second straight conference title and seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament berth. In addition, DeAngelo led the Garnet with 19.2 points per game in six contests against nationally-ranked squads, including tying his career high with 33 points in Swarthmore's NCAA Second Round matchup at No. 3 Trinity College (Conn.).
