Men’s Golf Finishes Second at Hampden-Sydney Invite

SEVEN LAKES, NC - The Swarthmore College men's golf team finished second overall at the Hampden-Sydney Invite on Monday. The Garnet shot a 309 for the final round as they finished with a team score of 622.

The Garnet had three golfers place inside the top-10 individually. Andy Xin led the team with a sixth place effort, while Neil Zhu and Yuxuan Wang tied for eighth and tenth, respectively. 
 

HOW IT HAPPENED 
- Xin had a challenging final round after entering play with a five-stroke lead for the individual championship. The sophomore finished 12-over-par for the tournament after carding an 84 (+13) for the round. He finished the tournament with five birdies after adding one in the final round.

- Zhu tied for eighth overall at 13-over-par. The sophomore shot a 78 (+7) with a pair of birdies to finish play. He finished the tournament with three birdies. 

- Wang was the biggest mover of the day as he climbed 23 positions to place inside the top-10. The first-year shot a 73 (+2) to take 10 strokes off his opening round total. Wang carded four birdies for the round. 

- Max Ash tied for 15th overall. The first-year took one stroke off his opening round score with a 78 (+7) to close the tournament. He ended the tournament with four birdies after adding one on the final day. 

- Dylan Zhang tied for 17th overall to climb 10 positions in the individual standings. The sophomore improved his opening round total by four strokes with a 77 (+6) for the final round. Zhang carded a pair of birdies to finish the tournament with three total. 

- Benjamin Garcia Moreira improved on his opening round score to tie for 31st overall. The first-year carded a 81 (+10) with one birdie.
