Men’s Track & Field Returns to Action at The Armory

NEW YORK - The Swarthmore College men's track & field team returned to action in the new year at the TCNJ Lions Invitational on Friday afternoon.

The Garnet earned a pair of top-10 finishes in the 800m run to highlight the meet, while Aiden Tomov placed inside the top-three in his return to action. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Matthew Gutow placed sixth overall in the 800m run with a time of 2:03.00 to set an indoor personal record in his season debut. Isaac Chu followed in eighth place with a 2:03.73 mark with an impressive showing in his collegiate track debut. Both runners won their respective heats with top-10 times overall.

- Tomov returned to the track with a third place overall finish in the mile. After missing the majority of last season with an injury, the senior crossed the finish line at 4:21.17 to finish third in the top heat. Kenneth Relovsky and Cohen Manges finished just outside the top-10 in the event with times of 4:36.71 and 4:37.47, respectively. 

- Sam Brody took 13th out of 39 runners in a crowded 3000m run. The senior recorded a time of 8:49.34 to set a new personal record in the event. Colin DeLaney placed shortly behind Brody with a 8:54.68 effort to grab 14th overall. DeLaney was narrowly edged out in the second heat to earn a runner-up finish.
