WILLIAMSTOWN, Ma. - The Swarthmore College men's golf team improved three positions as the squad finished 14th overall with a team score of 300 for the second round at the Williams Invitational on Sunday.

First-year Max Ash earned a top-10 finish against a competitive field of golfers. The rookie opened the tournament with a 72 (+1) before carding a 74 (+3) on the final day to shoot four-under-par on the weekend.

Dylan Zhang led the charge in a much-improved second round for the Garnet, who took 17 strokes off their opening round team score. Zhang shot one-under-par for today as he jumped 43 spots in the standings and took 11 strokes off his opening round effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ash capped off his first collegiate tournament with another impressive effort to tie for seventh overall. The first-year carded a 74 for the round with three birdies on the back nine. He combined for five birdies the entire tournament.

- Zhang bounced back from a challenging opening round to finish nine-over-par for the tournament. The reigning Centennial Rookie of the Year tied for 29th overall as he climbed 43 positions on the leaderboard. After not recording a single birdie in the opening round, Zhang finished with six birdies on the day to card a team-best 71. 

- Neil Zhu also bested his opening round score as he took two strokes off yesterday's effort. The sophomore tied for 77th overall with a 79 (+8) on the final day of the tournament. 

- Andy Xin gained 13 positions on the leaderboard with a much-improved second round. The sophomore took 10 strokes off his previous round to finish with a 77 (+6) on the day. Xin recorded a pair of birdies on the day and three for the tournament as he tied for 91st overall. 

- Ben Lee rounded out the team's competitors with an 84 (+13) to close out play. He tied for 99th overall.
