WILLIAMSTOWN, Ma. - The Swarthmore College men's golf team sits in 17th place with a team score of 317 after the opening round of the Williams Invite on Saturday afternoon. 

First-year Max Ash led the way for Swarthmore as he currently sits in fourth overall as an individual. Ash carded a 72 to shoot one-over-par for the opening round and is tied with seven other golfers. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ash was excellent in his collegiate debut as he went toe-to-toe against high-level competition. The first-year tallied a pair of birdies on the front nine, before shooting par on the entire back nine. Ash is currently four strokes off the leader heading into tomorrow's final round. 

- Dylan Zhang and Neil Zhu tied for the team's second lowest score with an 81 (+10) for the opening round. Both individuals are tied for 72nd as they head into tomorrow's finale. 

- Ben Lee rounded out the team's scorers with an 83 (+12) to tie for 93rd overall. Andy Xin also competed for the Garnet with an 87 (+16).
