No. 17 Women’s Swimming Sweeps Every Event at Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, MD - The Swarthmore College women's swimming team continued to dominate its conference schedule with its fourth Centennial win of the season with a 158-44 victory at Washington College on Friday night. The women secured their 28th consecutive conference victory and their 23rd straight dual meet victory - dating back to the 2018-19 season.

With members of their team competing in this weekend's D3 Shootout in Chicago, the Garnet showcased their tremendous depth with six different individuals posting first place finishes. Lauren Rohde, Anna Liu and Ainsley Jane Tambling paced the squad with a pair of first place efforts as the team won all 11 events. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore opened and closed the evening with a pair of relay wins. The team of Liu, Paige Poteet, Ashley Wong and Ava Craig kicked off a successful night with a time of 4:04.57 to grab first in the 400 medley relay. The Garnet then capped off the meet with a victory from Craig, Mackenzie Tucker, Cara Dominici and Tambling in the 200 freestyle relay at 1.40.27.

- Rohde opened an excellent evening with a time of 4:41.82 to take the top spot in the 400 IM. She was followed by Dominici (4:44.13) and Sophia Ulvestad (4:49.59) as Swarthmore swept the top-three finishes. Rohde later grabbed another victory with a time of 2:11.08 in the 200 butterfly. 

- Tambling combined for three wins on the evening, which featured a pair of individual victories. The sophomore claimed the top finish in the 50 freestyle at 25.08, before grabbing first in the 100 freestyle at 54.20. Tambling was also a member of the first place 200 freestyle relay to close out the night.

- Liu added a trio of wins after winning two individual events. The first-year opened her evening with a top time in the 200 freestyle at 2:00.64. She then claimed first place in the 200 backstroke with a 2:11.70 effort. 

- Cara Dominici earned a victory in the 100 IM with a 1:02.27 mark. Cindy Wang (1:05.28) and Sophia Caceres (1:05.30) then followed behind to complete a Swarthmore top-three sweep. 

- Craig touched the wall first in the 500 freestyle at 5:12.41. She also opened the meet with a victory in the 400 medley relay to post a multi-win night. 

- Wang headlined a Swarthmore trio with a 2:34.49 effort in the 200 breaststroke. Joe Fox grabbed second at 2:34.55, while Caceres followed with a 2:35.15 mark.

The Garnet (5-0) wrap up a busy weekend at the D3 Shootout on Saturday.
