No. 21 Men’s Swimming Continues Conference Dominance at Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, MD - The Swarthmore College men's swimming team earned another conference victory with a 136-68 decision over Washington College on Friday night. The team captured its 14th consecutive conference win, which dates back to the 2021-22 campaign. 

Vijay Chhabra was the star of the evening as he combined for three victories to pace the Garnet. The senior earned top individual efforts in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle, before contributing to a victory in the 200 freestyle relay. 

With several of their top competitors competing at this weekend's D3 Shootout in Chicago, the Garnet relied on their talented depth with five different swimmers combining for six individual victories. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Chhabra opened up a remarkable evening with a top effort in the 200 freestyle at 1:47.40. The senior was followed by Theo Kim (1:50.88) and Sam Peterson (1:50.92) to complete a Swarthmore top-three sweep. Chhabra then headlined another trio of finishers in the 100 freestyle at 48.47. Benton Greenberg (49.16) and Luke Magnuson (49.71) followed behind to claim second and third, respectively.

- Ethan Marotte was victorious in the 100 IM with a 54.70 mark. The senior was also a member of the first place 200 freestyle relay, which ended the night with a victory. 

- Mats McGrath and Peterson claimed the top-two spots in the 200 butterfly. McGrath touched the wall first at 2:00.63, while Peterson followed with a 2:03.76 effort. 

- Jacob Sherman led the way in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:57.47. He also narrowly took second overall in the 400 IM as he was barely beat out by the school's program record holder. 

- Theo Kim helped secure the top-three spots with a first place finish in the 500 freestyle at 4:55.96. The first-year was followed by Ham Williams-Tracy (5:01.06) and Mateo Smith (5:03.31). 

- Swarthmore capped off a successful night with a top finish in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Damien Rene, Marotte, Greenberg and Chhabra touched the wall first with a time of 1:26.63.
