Golf Ties for Ninth at Mason Dixon Collegiate

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's golf team tied for ninth overall with a two-round score of 604 to finish play at the Mason Dixon Collegiate. 

Benjamin Garcia Moreira shot four-over-par for the tournament to lead the Garnet. After carding an even 72 in the opening round, the first-year finished play with a 76 (+4) in the second round. 

Dylan Zhang led the team on the round with a 73 (+1) to close out the tournament. Zhang took three strokes off his opening round score to climb eight spots on the leader board. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Garcia Moreira carded a 76 (+4) in the final round to finish four-over-par for the tournament. The first-year tied for 15th overall with his best two rounds of his young career. He tallied two birdies and an eagle in the final round as he finished the tournament with eight birdies and the one eagle.

- Zhang led the team on the second day with a 73 (+1) to post Swarthmore's top score of the round. Zhang took three strokes off his opening round score and finished five-over-par for the tournament to tie for 22nd overall. The sophomore collected two birdies and an eagle for the round with six birdies and an eagle for the tournament. 

- Neil Zhu finished seven-over-par for the tournament to tie for 30th place. The sophomore carded a 75 (+3) in the final round after opening with a 76 (+4). He had three birdies on the day and seven for the tournament. 

- Max Ash tied for 49th overall after shooting an 80 (+8) to finish play.

- Yuxuan Wang rounded out the team's competitors as he tied for 60th overall. The first-year shot an 80 (+8) in the final round after opening with a 78 (+6).
