BETHPAGE, NY – The Swarthmore College men's golf team captured the team championship at the George Cangero Invitational with a team score of 293 on Sunday afternoon. Every score mattered as the Garnet tied York College, but were declared champion after winning the fifth-man tiebreaker.
Neil Zhu shot one-over-par to tie with four individuals as the runner-up. The sophomore shot a 71 for the round to record his lowest mark of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zhu carded a 71 (+1) to tie for second overall as an individual. The sophomore carded birdies on the 14
th and 16
th holes to finish the tournament strong and make a late surge on the leaderboard.

Max Ash recorded the team's second lowest mark with a 72 (+2) to finish tied for sixth overall. The first-year carded birdies on the fourth and fifth holes to shoot even on the front nine. Ash was shooting four-under on the front nine yesterday until the round was cancelled due to weather conditions.

Benjamin Garcia Moreira carded a 74 (+4) to tie for tenth overall. The first-year started the round strong with two birdies to finish one-under on the front nine.

Dylan Zhang recorded the team's fourth lowest mark with a 76 (+6) for the round. Zhang tied for 19
th overall with one birdie on the afternoon.

Yuxuan Wang shot a 78 (+8) to help the Garnet edge out York in the tiebreaker. The first-year tied for 28
th overall.

Andy Xin competed as an individual as he finished with a 75 (+5). The score marked a season-best round for the sophomore.
