COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's track & field team competed at the second day of the Centennial Championships on Saturday afternoon.

Bastiaan Phair captured the conference title in the decathlon to become the first Swarthmore male athlete to win the event at the Centennial Championships. The sophomore won four events and earned eight top-three finishes.

Ethan Rothenberg, Kendall Praitis-Hill, Aidan Cantine and Aiden Tomov also collected gold by securing the conference championship in the 4x800m relay.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Phair won the conference title in the decathlon. The sophomore finished first overall in the discus throw with a distance of 25.62m. He also earned top three finishes in the javelin (35.27m) and pole vault (3.55m) to become the first Swarthmore male athlete to win the decathlon at the Centennial Championships.

- Rothenberg, Praitis-Hill, Cantine and Tomov won the conference championship in the 4x800m relay. The team crossed the finish line at 7:51.39 to narrowly edge out Ursinus College.

- Jonah Covitz and Quentin Adolphe both earned points for the Garnet in the long jump. Covitz was sixth with a mark of 6.50m, while Adolphe placed eighth at 6.44m. Both jumps were personal records for the duo.

- Colin DeLaney earned points in the steeplechase with a seventh place finish. The freshman crossed the finish line at 10:03.11 as he battled through miserable conditions.

- Tomov qualified for tomorrow's 800m finals with a time of 1:56.42. The junior is seeded seventh in the event.
