Cantine Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Men's Cross Country, Track and Field senior Aidan Cantine was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Cross Country, Track & Field team for District IV on Thursday. Cantine is the lone student-athlete selected from the Centennial Conference to be selected to the District IV team.

Cantine, a computer science major, is a first-time member of the CoSIDA Academic All-District team. This past fall, Cantine was recognized by the Centennial Conference as the Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the PhillySIDA Cross Country Co-Performer of the Year.

The junior had an impressive 2021 cross country season, with a fourth-place finish (25:50.9) at the 2021 Centennial Championships (Oct. 30) and a fifth-place run (25:27.9) at the NCAA DIII Metro Regional Championship (Nov. 13); Swarthmore benefited from his great performances, placing fourth at the Centennial Championships and third at regionals. Cantine went on to place 64th (24:36.5) at the NCAA Division III Championship. He is a two-time United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region selection (2019, 2021) and earned recognition on the 2019 and 2021 Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll.

On the track, Cantine helped the Garnet to victory iny the 4x800 meter relay both during the indoor and outdoor Centennial Conference Championships. At the last chance meet on May 16th, Cantine set the school record in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:50.99. He was named Academic All-Centennial for the indoor and outdoor season this year and the Centennial Academic Honor Roll four times.
