SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Cohen Manges represented the Swarthmore College men's cross country team at the NCAA Division III Championships for the third straight year on Saturday at the Roger Milliken Center.
Manges took 180
th place in a field of 294 runners with a time of 25:51.5. The junior got off to a slow start but moved his way up the pack as the 8K race went on.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Manges fell behind the front of the field early on and was in 238
th place after the first kilometer. He steadily moved his way up, increasing his position at each checkpoint. The junior was 211
th (2K), 206
th (3K), 193
rd (4K), 181
st (5K), and 179
th (6K). Manges then reached a peak of 172
nd at the 7K mark before falling back to 180
th at the finish. He finished strong with a final kilometer of 3:07.1, which was his second-best split of the race behind his first kilometer (3:00.8).
