Karpenko Earns All-America Honors in Record Fashion

Indianapolis, Ind. - Swarthmore College Men's Swimming sophomore Andrew Karpenko earned All-America honors on the Opening Day of the 2022 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving National Championships on Wednesday.

The sophomore finished in 14th place in the finals with a time of 1:49.63. Earlier in the day, Karpenko advanced to the finals of the 200-IM by breaking a school and Centennial Conference record with a time of 1:49.12. He finished the prelims with the 11th best time of the session. Karpenko previously held the Swarthmore and Centennial records with a time of 1:49.14.

Karpenko is the first individual male from the Swarthmore men's program to earn All-America honors since Ted Sherer achieved the status in 2000. Sherer received All-America accolades in the 100-breast and 200-breast.

Karpenko returns to the pool on Friday as he looks to add another All-America honor to his name in the 100-breast. All the action for the men's and women's events can be found by following the live video and live results
