CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Competing at NCAA DIII Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 12th, the Swarthmore men's cross country team finished second overall out of 25 competing teams.
The Garnet saw top-10 finishes from two runners, with senior
Aidan Cantine placing 3rd and first year Will Sheehy placing 4th. Along with sophomore
Atticus Hempel who placed 12th, sophomore
Colin DeLaney who placed 25th, and junior
Sam Brody Jr who placed 30th, all five members of the Garnet have been named to the NCAA Metro All-Region Team.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cantine headlined for the Garnet, finishing third overall with a time of 25:27. Sheehy finished just behind his teammate, coming in fourth with his time of 25:39.
- Hempel rounded out the top-12 times for the Garnet, finishing 12th with a time of 26:12.
- Also showing out for the Garnet, DeLaney finished 25th, Brody Jr tied for 30th, Rosin placed 49th and senior
Aiden Tomov notched a 62nd place finish.
- This is the third time that Cantine has been named to the All-Region team, earning the honor in all three seasons that he competed for the Garnet.
- This is the second time in as many seasons that Hempel has been named to the All-Region team, also earning the honor in 2021.
- The Garnet's second overall team finish was the second best amongst Centennial programs, with Swarthmore placing just behind Haverford.
