Men’s Cross Country Trio Earns Top-10 finishes, Team Places Third

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's cross country team placed third at the Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday morning.

Aidan Cantine earned All-Centennial First-team honors with a fourth place finish to lace the Garnet. Atticus Hempel and Will Sheehy also took home honors with second-team status. Hempel placed 8th overall, while Sheehy was 10th overall.

Cantine recorded first-team honors for the second-straight season, while Hempel was rewarded second-team status for consecutive years. Sheehy also broke through with second-team status in his championship debut. 



HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cantine led the charge for Swarthmore with a fourth place finish. The senior took home first-team status with a time of 24:48.8.

- Hempel and Sheehy both put together top-10 efforts to earn second-team selections. Hempel finished eighth overall with a 25:02.3 mark, while Sheehy placed in the 10th position with a time of 25:06.9. Hempel also recorded a new personal record in the 8K race.

- Aiden Tomov was fourth on the team and placed 26th overall. The senior recorded a 26:00.2 finish, while Ben Rosin and Colin DeLaney finished narrowly behind Tomov with times of 26:01.8 and 26:04.2. Rosin and DeLaney were 28th and 29th, respectively. Tomov and Rosin both set new personal records in the 8K race.

- Sam Brody rounded out the team's top-seven finishers. The junior was 33rd overall and crossed the finish line at 26:08.2.
