The Swarthmore College Track & Field team split up on Saturday as the majority of the squad competed at the Frank Colden Invite hosted by Ursinus College and a select portion of its nationally-prominent athletes were in action at the Villanova University Invitational.

Senior Robert Eppley, already Swarthmore's record-holder in the 60-meter hurdles, improved on his personal-best time by finishing the race in 8.91 seconds to take sixth at Ursinus.

At Villanova, junior Vaughn Parts slotted himself third in Garnet history by running 3,000 meters in 8:43.30.

Seniors Jared Hunt and Daniel Belkin competed against Division I competition as well on Saturday. Hunt took third in the shot put with a throw of 15.40m (50' 6.25"), beating out athletes from Penn, Villanova, Lehigh and more. Belkin placed fifth in the high jump by clearing a bar at 1.92m (6' 3.5"), also outdoing opponents from schools that compete at the highest level of collegiate athletics.

As he typically does, Garnet senior Benjamin Hejna took part in several events in Collegeville, Pa. He earned second of 11 competitors in the high jump by jumping 1.88m (6' 2"). He placed fifth in the long jump with a personal-record leap of 6.82m (22' 4.5"), good for ninth in school history. Hejna also participated in the 60-meter dash for the first time this season and moved himself into fourth all-time at Swarthmore with a mark of 7.36 seconds.

One meet now separates Swarthmore from the Centennial Conference Championships. The Garnet are headed to Haverford College for the Keogh Invitational on Feb. 16 at 10:30 a.m.
