LANCASTER, Pa. - Swarthmore College Men's Track & Field seniors
Robert Eppley and
Daniel Belkin had solid showings for the fourth-place Garnet at Day 1 of the Centennial Conference Championships.
With 33 total points, Swarthmore is 16 back of first-place Dickinson College and just two behind second-place Haverford College. The Garnet are six ahead of Ursinus College.
Belkin won the triple jump at 13.54 meters (44 feet 5.25 inches). Fellow Garnet senior
Benjamin Hejna finished barely behind him in second place with a 13.53m distance (44ft 4.75in).
Eppley broke his school record in the 60-meter hurdles by taking first in the preliminaries with a time of 8.71 seconds.
The Garnet will try to move up in the standings on Sunday, the final day of the championships.
