LANCASTER, Pa. -- Senior
Jared Hunt broke his own Swarthmore College Men's Indoor Track & Field record on Saturday afternoon with a 15.46m (50 ft 8.75 in) throw in the shot put at the Coach I Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall College.
Hunt won first place in the shot put on Saturday, beating out the second-place competitor by 3.24m. To put that into perspective, 3.21m separated second place and 13th place. Hunt's throw slots him at No. 12 in the country among Division III shot putters this season.
Senior
Daniel Belkin was also a winner on Saturday as he took first in the high jump at a height of 1.98m (6ft 6in). Belkin now sits at No. 13 nationally in Division III in the high jump after his performance. Senior
Benjamin Hejna placed second to his teammate at 1.93m (6ft 4in).
Hejna, the Centennial Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Dec. 10, placed second in the triple jump as well at F&M. He jumped 12.24m (40ft 2in).
Garnet junior
Vaughn Parts earned second place in the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:01.12.
Sophomore
Alex Flowers had a second-place finish as well. He reached a distance of 4.1m (13ft 5.25in) in the pole vault.
Senior
Robert Eppley, the Centennial Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week on Dec. 10, took third in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.00 seconds and also set a new school record.
Swarthmore's Track & Field team will go in different directions for its next action on Jan. 26 as one group will go to the McElligott Invite at Haverford College and others will travel to Widener College for the Widener Field Meet.
