CARLISLE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Track & Field posted 71 points at the Centennial Conference Championships May 6-8 to tie for fourth place overall with Muhlenberg.
Swarthmore earned a silver medal in the 1,500-meter run and the 5,000, bronze in the decathalon and high jump, and points in other events as well.
Paul Green earned tallied eight points for Swarthmore with a second-place run in the 1,500 (3:56.71). Spencer Friske captured a silver medal in the 5,000 with a time of 15:12.48.
Freshman Daniel Belkin leapt to a mark of 12.83m in the triple jump to take bronze. Fellow freshman Nolan Hofstee earned bronze in the decathlon with a score of 5,313 points, breaking his previous high and setting the second-highest total in school history. Hofstee had the top shot put (12.22m) and discus (36.50m) throws in the decathlon.
The Garnet earned five points in the 10,000-meter run between John Gagnon's four (31.52.33) and Mayank Agrawal's one (31.57.56).
Colin Pilsbury and Robert Eppley added three points and two points in the 110-meter hurdles with times of 17.36 and 18.41, respectively.
Swarthmore chalked up three points in the 4x100 and 4x800 relays. Noah Lifset, Peter Sayde, Benjamin Hejna and Saadiq Garba ran the 4x100 in 44.94, and Dominic Castro-Wehr, Benjamin Warren, Corey Branch and Paul Green ran the 4x800 in 8:02.39. The Garnet 4x400 relay team of Garba, Belkin, Warren and Jordan Reyes tallied two points with a time of 3:27.66.
Belkin finished fourth in the high jump (1.77m) and long jump (6.28m) to tally nine more points. Hejna added four points between his high jump (1.72m) and long jump (6.14m) and tallied another two in the triple jump (12.54m). Hofstee's triple jump of 12.66m added three more points to Swarthmore's total.
A pair of deuces from Andrew Jansen's shot put (13.24m) and discus throw (41.62m) rounded out the Garnet's points total.
Swarthmore's season resumes at home with the final qualifying meet on May 16.
