SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Cross Country faced a host of top talent at Rowan University on Saturday in the Inter-Regional Border Battle. Ten of the nation's top-35 teams competed at the event, including No. 1 SUNY Geneseo.
Swarthmore finished 29th overall of 43 teams.
John Gagnon led the Garnet with a time of 24:39.4 in the 7.8K race and placed 53rd overall.
Corey Branch placed second for the Garnet with a time of 25:43.5.
The Garnet had three freshmen score in their top five.
Vaughn Parts recorded Swarthmore's third score, a time of 26:24.1.
Frank Kenny finished in 26:33.4 and
Evan Baker posted a time of 26:48.4.
Lucas Heinzerling and
Oliver Newman crossed at the same time, 27:00.5, for Swarthmore's final results.
The Garnet had four runners in the open heat following the championship run:
Stuart Arbuckle (27:45.5),
Graham Doskoch (28:08.7),
Anthony Velleca (28:25.3) and
Henry Zhang (30:47.8).
Swarthmore's next event is the Centennial Conference Championship at Haverford College on Oct. 29.
