WIDENER RESULTSSEAMUS MCELLIGOTT RESULTSHAVERFORD, Pa. –Members of the Swarthmore College men's track & field team competed over the weekend at the Widener Field Meet on Friday afternoon and the McElligott Invitational hosted by Haverford College on Saturday, Jan. 30.
On Friday, freshman
Nolan Hofstee had a strong showing in the high jump as he tied for first with a height of 1.67 meters and also finished second in the triple jump at 12.20 meters.
At the Seamus McElligott Invitational, freshman
Saadiq Garba placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.56, just two one-hundredths of a second behind the third-place finisher.
Junior
John Gagnon also collected a fourth-place result with his personal-best time of 4:29.77 as he won his heat of the one-mile race. Classmate
Corey Branch finished close behind in 4:31.26. In the 800-meter run, senior
Paul Green came in seventh at 1:58.71.
Peter Sayde was the top finisher for the Garnet in both the 60- and 200-meter dashes, placing ninth (7.51 seconds) and eight (24.75 seconds), respectively.
The team will compete next Saturday at the Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus College and the Villanova Invitational in Staten Island, N.Y.
