FULL RESULTSKUTZTOWN, Pa.–The Swarthmore College men's track & field team kicked off the New Year on Friday evening by participating in the Golden Bear Invitational hosted by Division II Kutztown University.
Sophomore
Andrew Jansen achieved a personal-best in the shot put with a throw of 12.74 meters to place 11th in the 37-person field of Division II and Division III competitors. Freshman Nolan Hofstee also finished 18th with a distance of 11.80 meters.
Freshman jumpers
Daniel Belkin and
Benjamin Hejna had strong showings, placing fifth (12.77 meters) and 10th (12.06 meters)respectively, in the triple jump. Hejna also finished 11th in the long jump with a distance of 6.02 meters.
Swarthmore had three runners place in the top 10 of the 3000-meter race as junior
John Gagnon led the way with a fourth-place result in 9:11. Senior
Paul Green was close behind with a time of 9:11.70 while junior
Corey Branch finished ninth in 9:15.10.
Senior
Ethan Lee came in ninth out of 44 runners in the 400-meter dash with a time 52.93 and freshman
Benjamin Warren was seventh (2:08.84) in the 800-meter race.
The team next competes at the nearby Widener Invitational on Friday, Jan. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 29.
