RESULTS*SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Four Garnet players won their respective singles flights as the Swarthmore College women's tennis team hosted Haverford and Dickinson for the Swat Invite on Sept. 12 and Sept. 13.
Singles were played in a round-robin with five flights and doubles used a compass draw format with two brackets.
Sophomore
Anna Scheibmeir was 4-0 at second singles and dropped only one set on the weekend. In the third singles flight, freshman
Rachel Hechinger dominated her competition, winning all four matches in straight sets. Sophomore
Ashley Gao was also undefeated and claimed the fourth singles title over competitors from Haverford and Dickinson. At fifth singles, senior
Jackie Lane went 3-1 as the bracket champion.
Alli Wong,
Rachel Bronkema, and
Amanda Izes also finished with 3-1 records as they placed second in their respective flights.
In doubles, the team of
May Dong and
Sophia Schuster was crowned the victor of the second flight with an 8-4 win over teammates Lane and Izes.
Swarthmore concludes fall competition at the ITA Regionals hosted by Mary Washington beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
