Emanuel Schorsch finished fifth in the decathlon to lead the Swarthmore College men's track & field team to a ninth-place standing among nine schools after the second day of the Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday, May 2 at Muhlenberg's Scotty Wood Stadium. The Garnet ended the day with nine points through eight events.
Schorsch most notably won the 1,500-meter run to finish the decathlon with 4,520 points, which was a tremendous improvement from his previous best of 3,785 points that he registered at last year's championship meet at Clothier Field. Sophomore
Jerry Qin placed seventh with 4,246 points.
In the field,
Colton Aho was eighth in the discus throw after recording a toss that sailed 133-feet, 2-inches. The mark was also a personal best for the senior.
In addition, Swarthmore had two student-athletes combine to advance past the trials in three events. Senior
Erick White registered a time of 1:55.75 in the 800-meter run, while classmate
Jason Heo finished the 400-meter intermediate hurdles in 57.14 seconds and will also compete in the 100-meter high hurdles finals tomorrow.
Swarthmore will conclude competing at the Centennial Conference Championships tomorrow morning beginning at 11:00 a.m.
