Sarah Nielsen of the Swarthmore College women's track & field team advanced to the final round of the women's mile at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, March 13 at the JDL Fast Track.
A native of Reston, Va. , Nielsen ran in the faster of two sections and finished the race in 5:04.12. The mark was also the sixth-fastest time overall and in her heat among the 17 competitors.
Nielsen, who entered the championship meet seeded 12th, will look to become Swarthmore's first women's indoor All-American since Caitlin Mullarkey accomplished the feat in 2009 when she races in the finals tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
