COMPLETE RESULTSHAVERFORD, Pa. – In spite of outstanding individual races by the team's senior class, the Swarthmore College men's track & field team notched an eighth-place finish at the Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday, March 1. The Garnet registered 25 points, coming in ahead of McDaniel.
Johns Hopkins captured the title with a commanding 205 points, outscoring runner-up Haverford with 157 points and third place Franklin & Marshall with 83 points. Dickinson (73), Ursinus (50), Gettysburg (47), Muhlenburg (37), Swarthmore (25), and McDaniel (24) completed the field.
Despite the low team score, Swarthmore had several impressive individual performances. Senior
Emanuel Schorsch broke his own school record with a seventh place finish in the heptathlon, earning a combined score of 3,274 points. Senior
Erick White placed fourth in the 800-meter run in 1:58, while classmate Zack Kronstat placed fourth in the triple jump, landing at 42-feet 8.25-inches. Fellow senior
Jason Heo placed fifth in the 60-meter high hurdles, crossing the finish line with 9.13 seconds and the distance medley relay consisting of senior
Erik Myers, Shua-Kym McClean, and sophomores
Stuart Arbuckle and
Will Sullivan notched a third place finish with a time of 10:48.04.
With the indoor track & field season finished, the Garnet will compete in their season opening outdoor track meet at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University in Chester, Pa. on Friday, March 27.
