Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's basketball team fell to Johns Hopkins by a 67-49 score on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Tarble Pavilion.
Johns Hopkins (14-7, CC 11-4) scored the first nine points of the game and never looked back. After Jessica Brown netted the first bucket of the game from long range to set the tone, the Blue Jays extended their lead to 18-5 on a trifecta from Liz Tommasi. A layup by junior
Abbey Deckard made it 20-9 at the break.
Swarthmore, which only shot 12.1 percent in the first half and 23 percent in the game, got its offense going quickly in the second half when senior
Elle Larsen recorded an old-fashioned 3-point play. The Blue Jays, however, recovered by getting a 3-pointer from Katie Clark and extending their lead up to 20 at 64-44 by getting five consecutive free throws from Katie Clark before eventually running away with the 18-point win.
Hopkins got another balanced scoring effort and was led by Tommasi's 16 points and three assists. Beatriz Williams finished with 11 points and four blocks, while Clark added 10 points to go along with two steals and two assists.
Larsen recorded her ninth double-double of the season for Swarthmore by registering 26 points and 11 rebounds, which were both game highs. She also blocked a career-high five shots. Deckard and
Maggie O'Neil finished with seven and six points, respectively, while also recording four steals apiece.
Swarthmore (7-14, CC 4-11) continues its five-game homestand when it entertains Bryn Mawr on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m.
