HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's basketball team scored 10 of the game's last 15 points to break a 40-40 tie and take the season finale at Haverford College, 50-45, on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet wrap up the campaign with a 10-15 record.
The Fords started hot with a 14-2 run in the opening quarter but the Garnet chipped away at the deficit and took a 20-19 edge midway through the second. Swarthmore would maintain the advantage heading into halftime, 25-23. Haverford more than doubled up the Garnet in the third, 15-7, to take back control entering the fourth. Swarthmore opened the final period with an 8-0 run to get back in the game and continued its momentum into the closing minutes.

Emy Chen, and
Vianna Kanyamiheto-Watson all scored 10 points for the Garnet. Chadwell and
Samara Diggs each grabbed eight rebounds with Diggs adding four steals. Kanyamiheto-Watson came up with three blocks on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Haverford dominated the opening six minutes of the contest, getting out to a 14-2 advantage. The Fords shot 6-of-10 from the field while holding Swarthmore to just 1-of-8. The Garnet then found their shooting touch and reeled off 18 of the next 23 to take a 20-19 lead with 5:32 to go in the second quarter. Six different players contributed to the run. After four Haverford points, Chadwell made a layup and
Nina Sablan drilled a three to put the visitors ahead 25-23 at intermission.
- The Fords made a trio of three-pointers in the third quarter, helping them outscore Swarthmore, 15-7, in the period and take a 38-32 lead going into the final frame. The Garnet scored eight unanswered to start the fourth and go in front 40-38 with 5:27 to go. Kanyamiheto-Watson led the stretch with five points and Chadwell added three.
- After a Haverford layup evened the score, Chadwell hit a clutch three to spark a 7-0 surge for Swarthmore. Chadwell added two foul shots and Chen made a layup. The Fords bounced back with five of the next six to close to within three (48-45) with 12 seconds to play. After a Chen free throw, Diggs came up with a steal that forced the Fords to foul and Chen closed it out at the line.
