Women’s Basketball Drops Home Finale to Ursinus

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's basketball team dropped its home finale against Ursinus College, 62-54, on Saturday afternoon. Prior to the start of today's game, the program honored its three seniors Kaylah Jacques, Raven Richardson and Kaya Fruchtman.

Lily Czub was outstanding, playing the best game of her career. The sophomore netted a career-high 22 points with 10 rebounds for her first double-double. Rookies Vianna Kanyamiheto-Watson and Catherine Chadwell contributed to the scoring with nine points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore broke out to a fast start, rallying for a 7-2 opening stretch. Kanyamiheto-Watson capped off the stretch with a three-pointer while Chadwell and Carly Murphy added buckets.

- Midway through the first, the Bears would begin to flip momentum with a 9-0 response. Jacques ended Ursinus' rally with a much-needed triple, but the Bears ended up winning the opening quarter 15-10.

- Czub and Samara Diggs helped flip momentum back towards the Garnet. Diggs added four points in the opening four minutes of the second, while Czub highlighted a 9-5 Swarthmore run with an and-one layup, trimming its deficit to one point.

- Ursinus began to rebuild its lead, countering with an 11-0 run. Czub helped limit the damage with a three-pointer before the half, but the Garnet trailed 31-22.

- Chadwell opened the third with a layup and a three-pointer to pull within four points. The Garnet kept pace with the Bears, but were unable to chip away any further at their deficit. Ursinus entered the final stanza with a 44-36 lead.

- Czub and Chadwell shrunk the team's deficit back to four points with a pair of buckets to open the fourth. However, the Bears eventually widened their gap with seven-straight points to build an 11-point lead at the midway point of the quarter.

- Swarthmore would answer back with a 6-0 swing to pull within five with 2:28 left. However, the Bears finished things off as they held off a late Garnet push.
