GLASSBORO, N.J.—Swarthmore College Men's Cross Country competed against some of the top teams from the Mideast and Atlantic region, including five teams ranked in the top-35 nationally and finished in 16th place overall.
The Garnet recorded 430 points in Saturday's Inter-Regional Border Battle, with the highest finish being 42. The Garnet averaged 26:28.59 on the 8K course for a total time of 2:21:22.93. Swarthmore finished 53 points ahead of Johns Hopkins University which is currently ranked No. 18 in the country.
Swarthmore's
Corey Branch ran a team-best 25:47.45 and set a personal best in the process.
John Gagnon also set a personal best at 25:55.04 to finish in 50th place.
Mike McConville ran in 26:43.02 for 106 points.
Paul Green finished in 26:57.92, and
Will Sullivan was close behind at 26:59.50, a new personal best for him.
Saturday's meet was the last of the regular season before the Centennial Conference Championship on Oct. 31. The championship will be held in Stevenson, Md.
