Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Swarthmore College women's basketball team was dealt a 67-51 loss by McDaniel on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at the Gill Center.
McDaniel (11-1, CC 6-1) jumped out to a 7-2 lead and never trailed in the game. The Garnet only trailed by an 11-10 score after senior
Elle Larsen made a pair of free throws at the 12:29 mark, but the hosts responded with a 21-4 to break the game open. Alyssa March gave the Green Terror a commanding 32-14 advantage by nailing a jumper with 5:19 to go, and a late 3-pointer by Steph Perez helped give McDaniel a 15-point cushion at the recess.
The second half was more evenly played, but the deficit was too much for the Garnet to overcome. After a
Jordyn Bell jumper brought the deficit down to 11 at 37-26, McDaniel rattled off eight straight and led by as many as 22 before it was all over.
Larsen registered her fifth double-double of the season with 22 points to lead Swarthmore. She also had three steals and two blocks. Junior
Jessica Jowdy contributed 11 points and five steals, and sophomore
Maggie O'Neil finished with nine points, four swipes and two blocked shots.
Lindsey Nichols and Perez scored 20 and 12 points, respectively, while canning four shots apiece from downtown to pace McDaniel. Karli Zeps and Emma Wingerd each netted eight points, while Wingerd also grabbed six boards.
Swarthmore (4-9, CC 1-6) concludes a three-game road swing when it visits Muhlenberg on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
